Weekend Jibber Jabber....

I have been feeling particularly crafty this week.Posts to follow. It's been great. But it make me want a labeler, washi tape, a glue gun and anything craft like. Wouldn't you think I would knit something, seeing that I have balls of wool and knitting hand!!

Enjoying this week...

  • Chris Crinkle/Secret Santa: Or rather the "not so Secret Santa" What will I get.....oh there are so many choices.....
  • Christmas Tree:  Going up this weekend. Was not 100% happy with it last year, so going to have to work it a bit this year!
  • Glamour Mag: I am not one for Magazines, I would prefer a book any day but I am an utter sucker for mags that are giving away something and especially nail polish...

Glamour mag and mince pies

  • Mince Pies: I got 6 for €1.50 in Tesco's and ate 4.....????!!! Why can't I stop!
  • Frosty Mornings: Well it certainly makes a difference than complaining about the rain...the frost is lovely....well until you have to go somewhere in the car! I am not liking this pic. Its not white enough or not frosty enough, still a little view of the tree this morning!

Frosty Tree
Not Enjoying this week...

  • Treadmill: Hubbie assembled the treadmill two nights ago.....It has been lying in 2 bits since we moved in and now it's together.....ahhhhhhh......Help!! Means I will have to use it now. But it needs oil for the belt so must eat as much as I can before Friday when I will be in town to purchase the oil....
  • Crank Calls about Windows: This is making me really mad. I am getting crank calls from a foreign call center, where they know my name and say they are from Windows and to switch on my PC...I say I am not interested and to please not call me again. But they do...two calls this week, Tuesday and Wednesday....Just hang up if you get this call. It's a scam!

Have a nice weekend end everyone!

New Hairdresser...

This is a follow on post from, Hair Dresser Disaster.

I had my hair cut at a new Hair Dressers (is Hair Dresser one word or two???), last week and was delighted.

Now, I know the above linked post was relating to a hair dying disaster I had, and in fairness I am not comparing like with like here as I only had my hair cut but I am tempted to get my hair dyed with this new hair dresser also.

I went on a quiet morning last week. Hair dressers tend to do good deals Monday to Wednesday. I was greeted nicely and I had my hair washed by Vanessa, I think. I love they way hair dressers massage your head when putting the conditioner in. I really could have fallen asleep.

Then it was onto Mike. Its been 10 years since a man cut my hair.I told him that and he laughed. He listened to my instruction and proceeded to cut.I am terrified of hair dressers when it comes to cutting more so than hair dying.I told him I was nervous about the length and to tell me when he was cutting that, to show me, so I could see how much he was cutting before he cut. I love my long curly hair and I protect my length by not cutting it often....Might be a hair no no but it works for me. He chopped away and I asked questions and he answered. When it came to the length he showed me how much he was cutting and I ok'ed it.

I was not brave enough to take a pick of the hair salon but I will definitely be going back. Could this be a turning point for me and hair dressers.....sure we will see..

Thanks to Mike at Eclipse Hair

Bake Day...Key Lime Pie....

Key Lime Pie...

I am afraid this one is not for me....

After I bought the limes in a punnet last week, it was Key Lime Pie I had my eye on to make... So I googled a recipe. I used a Jamie Oliver one

Recipe was very easy to follow and this pie was nice and easy to make but I just didn't like it. Nothing to do with the recipe, I never had this pie before and was keen to try as I like lime flavors.

The Tavern....Restaurant Review....

This was date night I mentioned here,The Tavern in Murrisk, Co Mayo.

This was a bit of a drive for me but I happened to be in that neck of the woods and decided to try it out.

We arrived to a warm and inviting room with a bar and tables set around it in a modern country style.

We helped our selves to a booth at the back of the bar. There were 4 of us and the booth was perfect, all dark wood,a tartan material and dark leather. The bar is made of glass which leaves no part of the restaurant dark.
This gives you an idea of the interior, lovely!
A friendly waitress was with us in no time and handed us two menus, a la carte menu and a curry menu (I think Friday night only).
We were delighted with the curry menu that we decided to order from it.

We ordered  Kormas and Chicken Tikka Masala, medium. All I can say is WOW. When the food arrived we were so surprised at the huge plates and hungry that there wasn't a peep out of any of us while we ate, well for about 5 minutes then the oohhh and ahhh started.

Tikka Masala, pity the poppadom fell over
Apologies for the quality of the pics. Hubbie would not let me take my camera, so these were taken with my phone. Also above our table they had these wonderful light shades made from basket weave. These cast a lovely light but not so lovely in my pics.....Unfortunatly my Korma pic is really bad, I can't use it.

All came on one plate, a bowl of curry, some rice, flat bread, poppadom, chutney and yogurt.

We had desert, I am such a desert person. Menu said all deserts made by chief, lovely and the lovely waitress advised that the Lemon Meringue Pie was just made, sold I was and ordered it.

Lemon Meringue Pie
As you can see from above I was half way through before I remembered to take a pick...bad I was truely delicious, I am biased as I love lemon deserts!!

After a couple of glasses of wine it was time to go.

The atmosphere in this restaurant is lovely and relaxed. I lies at the foot of Croagh Patrick Mountain, the perfect setting for a wonder restaurant. I will be revisiting!!

The food very tasty, served beautifully, hot and very keenly priced. 4 currys were €40, service was brisk and friendly event though we were waiting on our chips, atmostphere was lovely and relaxed and was a lovely warm temperature, very welcoming and clean!

If your in this part of the world, you must visit The Tavern for a Friday night Curry!! and I am sure other food delights....I spied a beautiful platter of oysters flying past me....yum

bia beauty....

I was so delighted to get these in the post from bia beauty. As Tracey says in the booklet accompanying these little bite size beauties, "feed your skin". Bia means food in Irish.

  • All products are 100% natural, all emulsifiers and preservatives used are plant based.
  • Not tested on animals.
 I love natural beauty products.

My fav....Lime Pie Lip Balm...
Lime Pie Lip Balm
This is just gorgeous, smells lovely enough to eat and is perfectly moisturising in this nippy weather. And I just love the this. Also comes in Chai Latte, Peppermint Chocolate and Coconut Kisses. What more could you ask for in a lip balm...yum

From the booklet "For those who don’t want to use any animal products in their skin care I’ve used soya wax to make the Peppermint Chocolate Lip Balm. The soya wax used is a totally natural and vegan blended wax based on ethically and non-GMO sourced soya and feels just as nice on the skin as beeswax! "

All good stuff, folks...

Apple Blossom Body Butter Sample
Lemon Myrtle Hand Cream Sample
Detox Body Scrub Sample
Orange and Grapefruit Exfoliant and Cleanser Sample
Mellow Mandarin Moisturiser for all skin types

These products really do what they say "feed your skin". I have been road testing these for the week and I would gladly purchase any of these products. The smell yummy and they feel great.

Just so you know I only give my opinion on products I have tried out myself and try to give and honest opinion.

Maybe one for the Santa list!
